Provided are a method and device for processing a network failure, which relate to the field of communications, can determine a service recovery strategy according to a power saving state of a user equipment after a mobility management entity has failed, and can reduce the unnecessary consumption of network resources. The specific solution is: acquiring the power saving state of the user equipment; and if it is detected that a mobility management entity (MME) which manages the user equipment has failed, then selecting the service recovery strategy for the user equipment according to the power saving state, wherein the service recovery strategy comprises: not initiating service recovery or initiating service recovery. The present invention is used for processing an MME failure.
