The invention provides a power supply control device capable of implementing two measures on an electrolytic capacitor, namely the discharge and the transient interruption of the electrolytic capacitor. The power supply control device comprises an AC/DC conversion part (30) used for smoothing the electrolytic capacitor, an AC power-failure detection unit (S1) and a discharging unit (R1) of a smoothing electrolytic capacitor (C2). The device also comprises a human body detection unit (S2) used for detecting the presence of a human body, and a discharge control part (CC1) used for controlling the smoothing electrolytic capacitor (C2). Upon the detection of the cut-off of an AC power supply (Vac) and the absence of any human body by means of the human body detection unit (S2), the control part (CC1) enables the discharge without the adoption of the smoothing electrolytic capacitor (C2). Meanwhile, when the presence of a human body is detected, the discharge is carried out by means of the smoothing electrolytic capacitor (C2). The invention also provides an image forming apparatus provided with the above power supply control device. |
