Process for obtaining a modafinil-based pharmaceutical composition, resulting pharmaceutical composition and use thereof

Disclosed is a process for obtaining S-modafinil (2-[(diphenylmethyl)sulfinyl)] acetamide) pharmaceutical compositions (levorotatory from) comprising: solubilising S-modafinil in a fluid in the supercritical state (e.g., CO2, tetrafluoroethane); reducing the pressure of the fluid; and recovering S-modafinil by absorbing it at the surface of an inert support (e.g., mannitol, anhydrous lactose) in the form of granules. The process results in S-modafinil with increased solubility and bioavailability.
