Wireless communication apparatus 100 (first wireless communication apparatus) that performs communication using WiGig includes: storage section 13 that stores capability information indicating wireless communication capability of the first wireless communication apparatus 100; capability information acquiring section 143 that acquires capability information of a second wireless communication apparatus which is a connection peer of the first wireless communication apparatus from the second wireless communication apparatus; and connection method determining section 145 that determines a role of each of first wireless communication apparatus 100 and the second wireless communication apparatus when the first and the second wireless communication apparatuses are connected, based on the capability information of first wireless communication apparatus 100 and the second wireless communication apparatus.
