<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing an image defect caused by action of a charging member for charging toner on an intermediate transfer body.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises: an image carrier 1; an intermediate transfer body 10: a primary transfer member 6; a secondary transfer member 8; a brush-shaped charging brush 9 coming into contact with the intermediate transfer body 10 and charging toner on the intermediate transfer body 10; and a power source 90 applying voltage to the charging brush 9. The charging brush 9 is arranged on the downstream side of the secondary transfer member 8 and on the upstream side of the primary transfer member 6 in a moving direction of the intermediate transfer body 10, and the power source 90 outputs charging voltage for charging the toner on the intermediate transfer body 10. The image forming apparatus 100 is constituted so that voltage having the same polarity as the charging voltage is controlled to be applied to the charging brush 9 while all areas on the intermediate transfer body 10 to which primary transfer is to be performed immediately pass through an area where the intermediate transfer body 10 comes into contact with the electrifying brush 9.</p> |
