<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise level estimation device that makes it possible to use an image including noise to easily and accurately estimate a noise level of the image. <P>SOLUTION: A noise level estimation device comprises: an image patch set generation section for generating an image patch set from an image; and a noise level estimation section for estimating a noise level of the image on the basis of the image patch set generated by the image patch set generation section. The noise level estimation section includes: a variance-covariance matrix calculation section for calculating a variance-covariance matrix corresponding to the image patch set on the basis of the image patch set; a minimum characteristic value calculation section for calculating a minimum characteristic value of the variance-covariance matrix calculated by the variance-covariance matrix calculation section; and a noise level calculation section for calculating a noise level on the basis of the minimum characteristic value calculated by the minimum characteristic value calculation section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
