摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for trapping atoms. <P>SOLUTION: An atom trapping device includes: a trapping part having a micro disk array and a cover disk made of superconducting material, the micro disk array being arranged within a range of a surface of the cover disk and a superconductive transition temperature of the micro disk array being higher than that of the cover disk; a magnetic field application part for applying a first magnetic field and a second magnetic field, which is opposite to the first magnetic field, to the trapping part; and a cooling part for cooling the trapping part to a first temperature, which is higher than the superconductive transition temperature of the cover disk and is lower than the superconductive transition temperature of the micro disk array, after the application of the first magnetic field and cooling the trapping part to a second temperature, which is lower than the superconductive transition temperature of the cover disk, after blockage of the first magnetic field. The magnetic field application part blocks the first magnetic field after the trapping part is cooled to the first temperature, and applies the second magnetic field after the trapping part is cooled to the second temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p>
