This application aims to provide a new method and device for verifying personal identify from a personal ID document that contains unique identifying text and encrypted biometric data. The user enters the unique text using a text entry means, such as a keyboard 19, and an NFC reader 14 reads the biometric data. A decryption application 172 decrypts the biometric data and a camera, 11 and 12, captures an image of the face of the user. A date and time application 173 records the date and time when the user used the device and a data assembly 174 assembles all of the data together. The communication system 16 then transmits the data to the remote station 2 via a wireless network 3. The text entry means may also be a scanner 13 that can scan the unique identifying text. An OCR application 171 may then recognise the characters from the data and output them to a display 18. |
