摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which can always stably set a gap between an image reading section and a document transportation face to appropriate height in accordance with thickness of a transported document and correctly and securely read an image.SOLUTION: An image reader 1 includes an image reading section 7 which consists of CIS for reading an image of a document passing a document transportation face 24. The image reading section includes at least a pair of projection sections 25a and 25b toward the document transportation face at both ends in a width direction orthogonal to a document transportation direction. Both the projection sections abut on the document transportation face and a transportation gap with constant height is defined with the document transportation face for whole length of the image reading section in a width direction. The document transportation face includes abutting faces 28a and 28b in heights different from the face, the image reading section is moved in the width direction so that the projection faces abut on the abutting faces and the transportation gap with the document transportation face is changed.</p>
