The present invention relates to 6-gingerol useful as a radio protective agent and a 6-gingerol treatment for effectively protecting a cell against a radiation exposure. By preprocessing the 6-gingerol for an hour before radiating ionizing radiation, the present invention enables to be usefully used for the exposure to the ionizing radiation as increasing a protection effect for cell damage.
