<p>A high-pressure fuel pump assembly (200) for use in an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The fuel pump assembly (200) comprises a pumping plunger (201) for pressurising fuel within a pump chamber (220) during a plunger pumping stroke, and being slidably received in a plunger bore (216); a rider member (206) co-operable with a drive; and an interface member (250) for imparting drive from the rider member (206) to the pumping plunger (201) to perform the plunger pumping stroke, the interface member having an interface side (256) co-operable with the rider member (206). The pumping plunger (201) comprises fluid delivery means (228, 230, 232, 234, 236) for delivering fuel from the pump chamber (220) to one or more contact surfaces (227, 238) of the pumping plunger (201), thereby to lubricate the contact surfaces (227, 238).</p> |
