The present invention relates to a system for wirelessly controlling lighting, which minimizes construction costs, and to a method for wirelessly controlling lighting by using the same. The system for wirelessly controlling lighting according to an aspect of the present invention, which minimizes construction costs, comprises a protocol converter which builds a wireless network with a portable terminal via an access point, receives a lighting control signal for a lighting device installed in a particular space from the portable terminal via the wireless network, and converts the lighting control signal into a voltage signal to transmit the voltage signal to the lighting device, wherein the protocol converter includes: a wireless communication module building a wireless link to the portable terminal to wirelessly receive a lighting control signal having a target dimming level from the portable terminal; a control unit converting the lighting control signal received by the wireless communication module into a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal; and a converter module converting the PWM signal converted by the control unit into a voltage signal having a target voltage level for the lighting control signal to transmit the PWM signal to a power supply unit of the lighting device. |
