PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a short circuit caused by soot in exhaust emission, in a catalytic converter device having a catalyst carrier which generates heat by being carried with electricity.SOLUTION: A catalyst carrier 14 is arranged within a range of a glass coat layer 44 arranged at an internal face of a cylinder body 28, and a maximum diameter part 32D of an upstream-side diameter-contracted part 32 and a maximum diameter part 40D of a downstream-side cylinder 40 are located in the range of the glass coat layer. Insulation performance with the cylinder body is enhanced by the glass coat layer, and the leakage of a current to the cylinder body is suppressed at electricity-carrying to the catalyst carrier. Since a diameter of the upstream-side diameter-contacted part is contracted toward an upstream side, an eddy is generated at exhaust emission which flows inside the diameter-contacted part. Therefore, the diameter-contracted part is liable to receive heat from the exhaust emission compared with a constant-diameter cylindrical structure which is not diameter-contracted, and adhered carbon is burned. Thus, a short circuit caused by soot can be suppressed. |
