Classes 61 and 145 A saw blade 22 vibrated by means such as an electro-magnet 15 has one or both ends bent into a loop 21 that bears yieldingly on the outer edges of slots in the mounting means 4, 5 so as to avoid any hammering action. The mounting means are carried by a spring-loaded armature 15 and by a flexible extension 11 of a U- frame 6 and have each three pairs of slots so that the blade can be fitted with its teeth facing in different directions.
