<p>An objective of the present invention is to provide a medium processing apparatus which spatially divides a space for storing checks and bills into an upper portion and a lower portion in a medium processing apparatus to shorten the length of a return path of a check to efficiently process a medium. To achieve the objective, the medium processing apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a deposit/withdrawal unit (100) having a space into which the medium is inserted and from which the medium is retrieved when depositing/withdrawing; an identification unit (200) to detect whether the medium is abnormal and identify a bill type; a momentary storage unit (300) to momentarily store the medium transported through the identification unit (200); a check storage unit (400) to store a check; a bill storage unit (600) having a first to a forth cassette (601, 620, 630, 640) installed in parallel with each other in a transverse direction, a fifth cassette (650) formed to be shorter than the first to the forth cassette (601, 620, 630, 640), installed next to one side of the forth cassette (640), and separated from the one side of the forth cassette (640), and a sixth cassette (660) installed next to one side of the fifth cassette (650); a rejected bill storage unit (800) formed to be shorter than the first to the forth cassette (601, 620, 630, 640) and installed below the fifth cassette (650); and a return path (900) through which the medium is returned. The deposit/withdrawal unit (100), the identification unit (200), the momentary storage unit (300), and the check storage unit (400) are disposed in an upper module (1), and the bill storage unit (600) is disposed in a lower module (2) installed below the upper module (1).</p> |
