PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device that can more suitably protect a crew member upon lateral collision of a vehicle.SOLUTION: In a side airbag device that spreads an airbag between a crew member and a side door, an air bag comprises a first base fabric constituting the lateral part one of right and left sides of the air bag and a second base fabric provided counter to the first base fabric, constituting the lateral part of the other of right and left sides of the air bag, and forming an expansion chamber together with the first base fabric. Further, this device comprises a partition fabric that keeps a side end edge jointed between the first base fabric and the second base and partitions the expansion chamber into the first expansion chamber and the second expansion chamber and a valve mechanism provided in the partition fabric to communicate with the first expansion chamber and the second expansion chamber by opening only when the first expansion chamber completely expands. |
