A process for producing a solid oxide fuel cell, the process comprising the following steps: providing a porous support substrate formed of sintered grains of a Fe-based alloy, the support substrate having an open-pore structure and being gas permeable; depositing an electrically conductive ceramic layer on the porous support substrate by a pulsed sputtering process retaining the open-pore structure of the substrate and a gas permeability thereof, forming a coated porous support substrate that is gas permeable; and applying an anode in direct material contact with the coated porous support substrate to produce a support structure with an anode of the solid oxide fuel cell.
