摘要 847,842. Reclining chairs. FLETCHER, P. S. May 14, 1957 [May 25, 1956], No. 15294/57. Class 52(2) A reclining chair has a leg-rest 42, a leg-rest extension 44 pivoted thereto and provided with a projection 48 so as to form a double-armed lever, and a bar 64 coupled to the projection and to a lazy-tong linkage on which the leg-rest is swung out so that the member 44 is also extended. The seat 18 is pivotally connected with the chair frame 10 and with a back-rest 20 at 22, the backrest having at each side an extension 24 pivotally connected with a link 26 which in turn is pivoted to a guiding link 32 swingably mounted on frame 10 and to a front link 38 pivoted to seat 18 at 40. Links 54, 56, 72 complete the lazy-tong linkage which operates, as the back-rest is inclined backwards, to extend the leg-rest 42. In a modification, Fig. 4, the bar 164 is pivotally connected to link 154. In another modification, Fig. 6, the lazy-tong linkage is replaced by an arrangement in which the leg-rest 242 is swingably mounted on the seat 218 by means of member 238 and the leg-rest extension 244 is operated by a bar 264 pivoted to link 226. In yet another modification, Fig. 8, the leg-rest 342 is pivoted to the end of link 326, link 338 is pivoted to the seat 318, to an intermediate point of link 326 and to a link 356 connected to the legrest, the extension 344 being operated by a bar 364 pivoted to link 338 between links 326 and 356. In a still further modification, Fig. 10, the seat 418 and back-rest 420 are rigid with each other to form a unit 476 which is pivoted at 482 to one arm of a double-armed lever 478 swingably mounted on frame 410 at 480, the lower end of the lever being pivoted to link 426. The unit 476 is also pivoted to a link 490 swingably mounted on the frame at 492. A guiding link 432 is pivotally connected to the frame and to link 426 and an arm pivoted to the frame at 486 has a pin and slot connection 488 with link 426 and is pivoted to link 454 connected to the leg-rest 442 which is pivoted to the end of link 426. Leg-rest extension 444 is operated by a bar 464 pivoted to link 454. In another modification, Fig. 12, the leg-rest 542 is mounted by means of links 554, 556 on an arm 584 pivoted to the chair frame at 586 and link 556 is pivoted also to another arm 598 coupled to guide link 532 the seat being connected to the latter by a link 538. Reclining of back-rest 520 causes, through link 526, the linkage to swing forward and raise the seat and leg-rest, the leg-rest extension 544 being operated by bar 564 pivoted to link 554. Yet another modification, Fig. 14, is similar to that of Fig. 6 except that bar 664 is pivoted to the seat 618 at 608 instead of to link 626. The modification shown in Fig. 16 is similar to that of Fig. 12 except that the leg-rest extension operating bar 764 is pivotally connected to the chair frame at 709. The reclining chairs may have locking means for holding the movable members in any desired position.
