Provided are an input assistance device, an input assistance method and a storage medium capable of presenting a character string to be suggested to a user taking into account the probability of the character string being input first in a character string. An input assistance device (10a) comprises a character string determining unit (11a) and a suggested candidate presenting unit (12a). The character string determining unit (11a) uses an index structure in which words are recorded together with their kana readings, and which indicates whether or not it is probable that said word will be input first when a character string is being input, to determine, when a user has input a kana character string, a character string to be suggested in relation to the kana character string that has been input. The suggested candidate presenting unit (12a) presents, as a suggested candidate, the character string to be suggested, that has been determined.
