874,899. Making shoes etc.; lasts. ALPHA HANDLES A. G. Sept. 5, 1958 [Sept. 7, 1957], No. 28547/58. Classes 17(1) and 17(2) In the manufacture of shoes the assembled upper is mounted on a one piece last which is heated so that the upper shrinks and shapes itself to the last, and simultaneously adhesive and then a sole and heel are applied to the shoe and subjected to a slight pressure of short duration. As shown the last I is a one piece casting with a recess in which an electrical resistance 5 is arranged. Preferably the last is heated to a temperature of 100-140‹C. Thermoplastic toe and heel caps may be incorporated in the upper. When the temperature of the shoe bottom, i.e. the insole, is 70-100‹C. it is coated with adhesive then the roughened and glued sole and heel are applied and pressed by hand or by a few blows from a hammer. Alternatively a conventional shoe button press may be used, in which case pneumatic or hydraulic cushions may be associated with the last. Specifications 338,609 and 409,448 are referred to. |
