The present invention relates to a digital photographing apparatus and a method for controlling the same. The method for controlling the digital photographing apparatus using an image phase difference for successive photographing comprises: a step of a first focus-detecting by detecting a phase difference of a picture photographed during a first photographing; a step of a second focus-detecting by detecting a phase difference of a picture photographed during a second photographing; a step of determining a movement speed of a subject based on the results of the first and second focus-detecting; and a step of correcting a focus position based on the determined movement speed of the subject.
