A lithium-air storage battery having at least one electrochemical cell with
a negative electrode, which is an air electrode;a positive electrode, which comprises a material for insertion of lithium; andan organic electrolyte conducting lithium ions, positioned between the negative electrode and positive electrode, the electrolyte not degrading, when it is subject to a voltage ranging from 3V to 5.5V expressed relatively to the Li+/Li pair and the storage battery having a potential difference between the electrochemical potential of the positive electrode and the electrochemical potential of the negative electrode greater than 4.5V expressed relatively to the Li+/Li pair.
