In this invention, when a pressing operation detection means detects a pressing operation, a control unit performs a process corresponding to a change in a touched position outside a predetermined region. Stated differently, even if a touched position within the predetermined region in an operation surface changes after a pressing operation is detected, said touched position is ignored and does not affect the process of the control unit. Thus, in this touch input device, even if a point within the predetermined region of the operation surface is touched when a user performs an operation of moving his/her fingers while pressing outside the predetermined region of the operation surface, said operation is accepted without being affected. Thus, for example, even in cases where a user holds the operation surface firmly with the thumb of his/her hand that is gripping the touch input device and in the meantime performs a pinching operation while lightly applying a pressing force with the fingers of his/her other hand, the pinching operation performed while pressing can be input reliably. |
