A method for assisting a driver of a vehicle having a driving assistance system, comprising the steps of: (a) determining a distance between the vehicle and an object in surrounding area of the vehicle; (b) comparing the distance to at least one warning limit; (c) initiating an action when the object is within the at least one warning limit, wherein the at least one warning limit is adjusted in dependence upon requirements of the respective driver and/or upon the location of the vehicle. The invention also relates to a computer program which performs the method for assisting the driver when said computer program runs on a computer and to a driving assistance system for carrying out the method. |
