<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium transporting device which simplifies a configuration of a transportation path in the transportation path having a plurality of medium supply paths and can reduce a space occupied by the transportation path in a recording device, and further to provide the recording device.SOLUTION: A medium transporting device comprises: a transporting section having a medium transportation path through which media prior to processing are transported toward a side of a processing section for executing the processing of the media or the media processed by the processing section are reversed and transported again toward the side of the processing section; a plurality of supplying sections for supplying the media prior to the processing to the transporting section; and a backward feeding section for backwardly feeding the media from the processing section to the transporting section so as to reverse the media processed by the processing section. The transporting section has at least a plurality of merge points of the same number as that of the plurality of supplying sections in the medium transportation path. The media supplied from the plurality of supplying sections merge with the medium transportation path at the merge points different from one another. The media backwardly fed from the backward feeding section to the transporting section merge with the medium transportation path via at least any of the plurality of merge points.</p> |
