<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass substrate for a magnetic recording medium capable of reducing the difference between surface roughness of a side surface part and surface roughness of a chamfering part.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a glass substrate for a magnetic recording medium includes a polishing step of processing an end surface of a glass substrate by supplying a polishing slurry containing an abrasive grain between the end surface of the glass substrate and a brush 20, and relatively moving the end surface of the glass substrate and the brush 20.
