PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a compression ignition type engine which performs compression ignition combustion in a region at least on the low load side, for enabling restoration by means of the compression ignition combustion at the time of the restoration from fuel cut.SOLUTION: The control device for the compression ignition type engine includes a controller (a PCM 10) configured to operate an engine body (an engine 1) while allowing the compression ignition combustion of air-fuel mixture in a cylinder at least when the operating condition of the engine body is in a region on the low load side. The controller stops fuel injection by a fuel injection valve (an injector 67) when predetermined fuel cut conditions are established during the deceleration of the engine body, and fully closes a throttle valve 36 and sets an exhaust valve train (VVL 71) in a twice-opening mode during fuel cut. The controller restarts the fuel injection by the fuel injection valve and opens the throttle valve to allow the compression ignition combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder 18, when predetermined restoring conditions are established. |
