<p>The objective of the present invention is to identify a switching hub of a connection destination of a communication terminal housed in a network served by a router without placing an excessive load upon the network. An adjacent intermediary device table is stored with regard to each of a router and each of the switching hubs served by the router. The router references a MAC address table to identify a communication port corresponding to a terminal to be searched, and references the adjacent intermediary device table of the router to identify a switching hub corresponding to the communication port. Next, the router, with the switching hub as a connection destination candidate, queries the communication port corresponding to the terminal, and references the stored contents of the adjacent intermediary device table of the switching hub to assess whether or not the connection destination of the communication port is another switching hub. Then, if the connection destination is the other switching hub, a query is performed again with the other switching hub as a new connection destination candidate.</p> |
