A two-part pivot hinge for horizontally pivoted centre pivot windows comprises a part 1 seated in a rabbet 4 in the window frame and having a bearing 7 for ready insertion of the hinge pin carried by a similar part 2 (Fig. 3, not shown) seated in a similar rabbet on the sash. The pivot axis is so placed that the window may be opened through 180‹. An elastomeric weather strip 13 is clamped to the part 1 in a slot 12 and extends through a recess 11 to the bottom of the frame, and is abutted by the lower half of the window when closed. A similar strip, clamped to the part 2, seals the upper half of the window. A "U" shaped friction bearing of e.g. nylon may be interposed between the pin and the bearing 7, the friction being increased by a screw drawing together the limbs of the "U". |
