PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay method and repeating device capable of demodulating a precoded input signal between different communication modes.SOLUTION: A P1 symbol detection- demodulation section 7301 receives a signal transmitted from a broadcast station. The P1 symbol detection-demodulation section 7301 detects a P1 symbol from input processed signals 704_X and 704_Y to synchronize between the signal detection and time frequency; and at the same time, acquires a piece of control information included in the P1 symbol to output a P1 symbol control information 7302. P2 symbol, or first and second Signalling data demodulation section 7501 inputs processed signals 704_X, 704_Y and P1 symbol control information 7302 to determine whether the received signal is the signal conforming to the DVB-T2 standard or other standard based on the P1 symbol control information to output a control information 7502 including a piece of information on the standard to which the input signal conforms.
