The present invention relates to a method to detect replacement of a glow plug and an apparatus to control a glow plug and, specifically, to a method to detect replacement of a glow plug capable of certainly and simply detecting whether a glow plug, which is a small electric heater attached inside a cylinder of a diesel engine, is replaced, and an apparatus to control a glow plug. According to the present invention, a first value of a temperature dependent variable is measured from a first glow plug of an engine, and a second value of the temperature dependent variable is measured from a second glow plug of the engine at the same time. The first value of the temperature dependent variable is compared with a reference value stored in the first glow plug. If the difference between the reference value and the first value exceeds a limited value, replacement of a glow plug is detected. In this case, the reference value is a value from the second glow plug corresponding to the second value within a tolerance predefined in the past and a value measured from the first glow plug of the engine. The present invention has an effect of certainly and simply detecting whether a glow plug is replaced by determining that one between glow plugs of an engine is replaced through a method to observe tuples obtained from values of an electrical variable such as resistance measured from a glow plug of the engine. |
