The invention relates to a modular system for aligning and fixing the electrodes and workpieces in a general-purpose electric discharge machine EDM. According to the invention, the system comprises an electrode-holder device and a workpiece-holder device, where the electrode holder is designed as a modular system and comprises a base module (1) to be fixed on a working head of a general-purpose machine and comprising some electrode-holder modules (2) employed to align and fix some small electrodes of a simple geometric shape and some other electrode-holder modules (3) employed to align and fix some medium-sized electrodes of complex geometric shapes, the workpiece-holder device being also designed as a modular system, comprising a base module (16) to be fixed on a working table of the general-purpose machine, and a workpiece-holder pallet (15) employed to align and fix medium-sized metal workpieces.
