<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoch-making method and an apparatus for winding up a band by which, though having an extremely simple mechanism, a winding starting end is firmly suppressed by a winding core to prevent slippage at a winding start of the band, the winding core is not bent to a drum shape during winding, and furthermore, a wound-up body can be easily extracted from the winding core due to the existence of a space formed between the winding core and the wound up body. <P>SOLUTION: In the method and the apparatus for winding up the band 3 around the winding core 8 partitioned by a partitioning groove 6 to obtain the wound-up body 4, an acicular body 9 is inserted into the partitioning groove 6 in an axial direction via a groove 21b formed at least at one winding core 21, the band 3 is wound up while preventing the winding core 8 from becoming slender enough to clog the partitioning groove 6 by a clamping force accompanied by the wind-up of the band 3.
