PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of continuing an operation from the initial time to the medium time of a product life while preventing in advance and properly the smoke generation and the fire of an electric blower, which might otherwise be caused on the basis of the friction between a commutator and a brush.SOLUTION: A vacuum cleaner 1 comprises: an electric blower 7 having a commutator 48 and a brush 51; a spark detection part 58 for detecting the size of a spark generated by the friction between the commutator 48 and the brush 51; a body control part 9 for calculating a prediction next value from the difference between the preceding value and the this time value of the detection result sampled by the spark detection part 58, to perform either the control to reduce the input of the electric blower 7 stepwise till the absolute value becomes a predetermined value or less, or the control to stop the electric blower 7, in the case where the absolute value of the difference between the prediction next value and the actual next value of the detection result sampled by the spark detection part is larger than a predetermined specified value; and a running time timing section 61 for summing the running time of the electric blower 7. A specified value Is is set to become smaller at the initial stage of the estimated life of the electric blower 7, as the sum of the running time advances. |
