A socket box comprising; a base (28, figure 7), a socket insert 18, a facia insert 20 and an internal electrically conductive substrate 78. The socket insert comprises a body having an upper surface and a lower surface, wherein the upper surface is provided with apertures which receive the pins of an electrical plug, and the lower surface is provided with sprung electrical contacts (70, 72, 74, figure 8). The socket insert and electrically conductive substrate are supported and held in spaced relationship to one another by the facia insert such that the sprung electrical contacts are compressed against the electrically conductive substrate, and the facia insert is supported by the base. Preferably the socket insert is rotatable within the facia insert to allow different orientations of plugs. The sprung contacts are compressed against contact points (80, 84, 88, figure 7) and the contact points are separated by non-conductive regions (82, 86) which allows the socket insert to rotate without breaking electrical contact with the electrically conductive substrate) |
