This apparatus is provided with: a refrigeration circuit (10) constituted such that a refrigerant is circulated among a compressor (21), an indoor heat exchanger (42), an expansion valve (41), and an outdoor heat exchanger (23), the compressor (21) and the indoor heat exchanger (42) being connected by a gas extension line (6), and the expansion valve (41) and the outdoor heat exchanger (23) being connected by a liquid extension line (7); pressure sensors (34a, 34b) and temperature sensors (33a-33l) for detecting operating state quantities of the refrigeration circuit (10); and a controller (3) which, on the basis of operating state quantities detected by the pressure sensors (34a, 34b) and the temperature sensors (33a-33l), calculates the quantity of refrigerant inside the refrigeration circuit (10), and by comparing the calculated quantity of refrigerant to a standard quantity of refrigerant, carries out a refrigerant leak detection operation to detect refrigerant leaks. During the refrigerant leak detection operation, the controller (3) controls the dryness fraction of the refrigerant at the outlet of the gas extension line (6) to 0.1-0.7. |
