PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and efficiently set network information needed for global communication under simple control with simple constitution. SOLUTION: A type value of a header field used for a data like layer is used as a specific value for inquiring a prescribed network address used for a network layer and its information field is provided with a special ARP packet which can be mounted with the network address; and a host device broadcasts a special ARP request packet to a LAN, another network device on the LAN having received it puts the network address corresponding to the request in the information field of the special ARP answer packet and sends them back to a host device, and the host device having received them extracts the network address from the information field of the special ARP response packet and sets it in the route information table of its station.
