The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a flexible display device which includes the steps of: forming a sacrificial layer which is made of metal oxide or metal nitride on the upper side of a base substrate; forming a flexible substrate on the upper side of the sacrificial layer; forming a thin film transistor on the upper side of the flexible substrate; reducing the sacrificial layer to the metal layer by a thermal treatment or a laser beam irradiation; and separating the flexible substrate from the metal layer and the base substrate.
