PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydroxide production method which generates a very small amount of impurities such as sodium and sulfur by an electrolytic method using metal nickel as an anode and can suppress generation of nitrogen oxide to a very low level even when roasted. ! SOLUTION: In a method for producing nickel hydroxide, metal nickel as an anode and a cathode are installed in an electrolytic cell, a liquid in which ammonium carbonate and ammonium halide are mixed in a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mol/l is used as an electrolyte, the pH value of the electrolyte is adjusted to 7.5-8.5, electrolysis is performed at a current density of 0.5-5 A/dm2 to precipitate nickel hydroxide including nickel carbonate on the surface of the anode, and then filtration and washing are repeated, thereby obtaining nickel hydroxide containing a very small amount of sulfur and impurity metals other than inevitable components. !
