An array substrate for liquid crystal display of the present invention, in an array substrate of double rate driving (DRD) structure which reduces the number of data lines in half to lower production costs, is provided to secure a column inversion method, change the design of a thin film transistor, and improve transmission. The array substrate includes a substrate; a gate lines formed in a direction on the substrate, and a gate electrode formed in a part of the gate line; an active layer formed on the gate electrode; data lines which are formed on the substrate having the active layer, intersect with the gate line, and define pixels; a drain electrode which is formed on the active layer and forms a source electrode extended from the data line and a straight-type channel facing the source electrode; a common electrode which is formed on the substrate having the source electrode/the drain electrode and the data line and has slits in each pixel; a pixel electrode which is formed on the substrate having the common electrode and is electrically connected to the drain electrode. The pixel includes a first group pixel connected to an odd number gate line, and a second group pixel which is connected to an even number gate line and shares first group pixels adjacent to both sides and the data line. |
