PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outside air temperature estimating apparatus which can correctly estimate an outside air temperature. SOLUTION: The outside air temperature estimating apparatus includes: a water temperature detecting means for detecting a water temperature of a coolant of an engine; an intake air temperature detecting means for detecting an intake air temperature of the engine; a load detecting means for detecting a load of the engine; a vehicle speed detecting means for detecting a vehicle speed; a first determining means for calculating a temperature difference between the water temperature and the intake air temperature to determine whether the temperature difference is equal to or less than a predetermined value or not; a second determining means for determining whether the water temperature is equal to or less than a preset temperature or not; an outside air temperature obtaining means for obtaining the intake air temperature as an initial outside air temperature when the temperature difference is equal to or less than the predetermined value and also the water temperature is equal to or less than the preset temperature; and an outside air temperature estimating means for calculating an estimated outside air temperature value from an estimated equation based on the detected intake air temperature, the detected vehicle speed and the detected load of the engine to estimate an outside air temperature from the estimated outside air temperature value and the initial outside air temperature value.
