<p>Apparatus 10 for handling slides which can receive at least one cover slipper module 100, 200 in space 18, 20. It also has an electrical interface to allow the attachment of a glass coverslipping unit 100 or a tape coverslipping unit 200. The region 18, 20 is made to receive the glass coverslipper module 100 or tape coverslipper module 200. The apparatus 10 preferably has two regions 18, 20 for accepting modules that are identical. It may also include a control unit to store data of applications to control the modules, automatically identify whether either a glass or tape cover slip module has been inserted and use the appropriate control program. The control unit may identify by reading a memory element or the apparatus may include an RFID reader. The electrical interface(s) may include a plug connector to connect to a complementary plug connector on the coverslipping module.</p> |
