Equipment for switching medium voltage three phase supplies uses three separate self actuating vacuum interrupters, one for each phase, in conjunction with a control unit. Each interrupter module can comprise an electromagnetic actuator, a drive insulator and a flexible conductor. Modules may be encapsulated in insulating material or contained in an insulating enclosure and can include a fault sensor, control equipment and a latching device to hold contacts in an open or closed condition. The interrupter modules may comprise terminals for suitable for insulated cables or bus bars. The three vacuum interrupters may be used in the tower of a wind generator or an indoor substation since an enclosing cabinet or substation cubicle is not necessary. |
