<p>According to one embodiment, a rotary compressor includes a compressing unit provided with a cylinder having a flared portion to provide a vane groove. In the compressing unit, a piston revolves along a cylinder inner wall, and an operation chamber is formed between the cylinder inner wall and the piston. A vane protrudes from the vane groove into the operation chamber and comes in contact with the annular piston to partition the operation chamber into an inlet chamber and a compression chamber. A spring inserted in a spring hole formed in the back of the vane groove presses the back of the vane.
