PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate for an optical lens which satisfies all characteristics such as high transparency, high refractive index and low birefringence and extremely high fluidity.SOLUTION: There is provided a polycarbonate which contains a constitutional unit represented by the following formula (I) and has a specific viscosity of 0.12 to 0.40. (where, Rto Reach independently represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group having 7 to 17 carbon atoms; X represents an alkylene group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, a cycloalkylene group having 5 to 12 carbon atoms or an arylene group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms; n is an integer of 0 to 10; Y is an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an ether group, a sulfide group, a disulfide group, a sulfenic acid group or a sulfonic acid group.) |
