PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation angle detection apparatus which when abnormality is generated in arithmetic processing of a rotation angle of a rotor, can detect the abnormality generation.SOLUTION: Rotation angle operation modes by a first rotation angle operation part 77A include: a first operation mode; and a second operation mode. In either operation mode, a rotation angle &thetas; of an input shaft 8 is calculated on the basis of output signals for three samples in first and second magnetic sensors 71, 72. Either one operation mode out of the first operation mode and the second operation mode is used as a main operation mode and the other operation mode is used as a sub operation mode for abnormality determination. Whether or not abnormality is generated in the arithmetic processing of the main operation mode is discriminated by comparing a rotation angle calculated by the main operation mode with a rotation angle calculated by the sub operation mode. |
