A mobile communication system comprises a mobile platform 1, such as an aircraft, having interfaces 2 to respective mobile communication networks 6 and a router 5 for selectively connecting communications devices 4 within the mobile platform 1 to one or more of the interfaces 2 for communication over the respective mobile communication networks 6. A central core 10, common to each of the mobile communication networks 6, includes a policy master 12 to determine resource requirements within the mobile communication networks and a resource manager 11 arranged to allocate communication resources to the interfaces 2 in response to resource requests (S3 fig.3) from the router 5 and resource requests (s8 fig.3) from the policy master 12. |
