<p>An embodiment of the present invention provides a method and apparatus for selecting playable code rate content, the method comprising: receiving from a user a content play instruction comprising the uniform resource locator (URL) of an index file; sending to a server a content play request comprising the URL of the index file and a terminal code rate capacity indicator; receiving the index file, which is returned after being filtered according to a current maximal terminal support code rate obtained by the server according to the terminal code rate capacity indicator; and selecting a play list from the index file returned after being filtered. By adopting the method and apparatus of the present invention, the play abnormality, which results from a request for the content exceeding the maximal terminal support code rate when the content is played by the terminal, can be avoided, and user experience is improved.</p> |
