An apparatus for braking an upper revolving body of construction heavy equipment is provided to prevent unstable motion of the upper revolving body due to the inertia resulting from clearance between the inner race of the bearing and the pinion, thereby minimizing fatigue of worker and improving work efficiency. An apparatus for braking an upper revolving body of construction heavy equipment comprises a brake device for braking an outer race of a revolving bearing(20) in a revolving structure of the upper revolving body, and a sensing unit(50) sensing a stop signal for a revolving motor(30). The outer race of the revolving bearing is stopped by the brake device according to the signal from the sensing unit. The brake device is composed of first and second brake bands(61,62), a brake control unit(70), and an operation unit(80). |
