<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which is capable of guiding light of a plurality of guided modes and is capable of solving problems caused by light of higher-order modes.SOLUTION: An optical waveguide comprises: a core 102 formed on a lower cladding layer 101; an upper cladding layer 104 formed on the lower cladding layer 101 while covering the core 102; and light absorbers 103 which are constituted of a material that absorbs guiding target light and are arranged on the lower cladding layer 101 in parallel with the core 102 in a waveguide direction at a distance from the core 102. Out of light of a plurality of modes propagating along the core 102, the light absorbers 103 do not absorb light in fundamental modes but absorb light of higher-order modes.</p> |
